My proposal here is to step back a while and try to look deeply into the staves of the runes.

Tyriel's new group reminded me of a query I had when I started dealing with the runes. This query, though, is more complex and cannot be refered there. It finally does not interest only beginners.
Let’s suppose that someone has not read any relevant book, does not know anyone that deals with the runes and does not know anything about the norse tradition. If they just pick up the staves and look deeply at them, would they be able to reach to similar thoughts as they do now? The answer would be “yes, this is essential” by all of us (including me) but it is not self-evident.
In other words why do the specific staves represent the specific runes energies?
My personal view is that the specific staves talk to specific archetypes inside our mind and release energies, independently of our culture and tradition. Norse people called these energies runes. Therefore, each stave’s shape must mean something for a person, no matter when or where they were born, something that is universal (food, water, protection, birth, death, …)
I would like for anyone who may join this group to pace some steps back, put aside for a while what they know and try to re-discover the runes through their shapes.
Edit: Here are the articles in the natural sequence of the runes:
