Romantic Runes and Asatru

I can't help but notice that most runecasters that I encounter on the web or in books seem to have a romantic, not to say adventurous view on the runes, or for that matter asatru. For me, the runes…Continue

Great resource on runic wisdom

Lately, I have been reading a lot on the background of the runes. I read for example Stephen Flowers' translation and introduction to Guido von List's Rune Secrets and Goodrick-Clarke's 'The Occult Roots of Nazism.' It helps me understand why most authors on the runes appear more interested in the magical application of the runes than the inherent wisdom they may convey. Guido von List was the first occultist who regarded the runes as magical and mystical tools and who made the connection with…See More

Profile Information

Bio
I was born in 1949 in Indonesia under the sign of Pisces. I studies in Amsterdam (biology) and for most of my professional life I was advisor of environmental NGO's, from 2000-2010 also advocating on behalf of NGO's, mostly concerning health and environment. For more than 40 years I have been active as oracle and seer. I have found that you can use just anything for divination. I see the runes as a way to reconnect to my European ancestors who used them. When I am participating in a shamanic healing circle, I often perceive an runemaster ancestor, casting huge and complex runeshield, composed of a couple of 100 runes. They are self-assembling, like snow crystals.
When did you begin using the runes?
1975
What rune(s) are you most concerned with?
At the moment elder futhark, but I have an intuitive connection to Viking runes and I appreciate the 33 AngloSaxon runes
Who are your favorite authors on the runes?
Tony Willis, the academic work of Edred Thorsson, and the outstanding book by MacLeod and Mees on runic amulets and magic objects

Divination method: the days of the week

Part 1

In this blog I want to give some background material about a method I developed for a Tarot reading. Probably it can be used for the runes as well, but I have more experience with the tarot, so I’ll take my examples from that. I give it here, because someone asked for it, and because it is relevant to divination in general.

Why divination?

Divination is consulting omens or oracles.…

Enjoying the Ride

Always thought that old age is a bit dull. No more daring adventures, thrills or kicks. No more challenges, except letting go of course and becoming wise. Not true at all.

The body is like a used car, little things start to falter. The difference being that for each defect, you have to consult another specialist. Last week I had plastic surgery in my face, repair of trauma caused by an accident.  Was allowed to go home as soon as the narcosis had worn off. Yesterday I went to the same…
